This class is for individuals age 21+
Though rarely seen at wine shops, many reputable wineries bottle their wine in formats other than the standard 750 ml bottle. Larger bottle sizes have fun names, such as Rehoboam (4.5 L bottle), Salmanazar (9 L bottle), and Nebuchadnezzar (15 L bottle), all ancient or biblical kings. On the smaller end of the spectrum, there’s the aptly (but boringly) named “half bottles,” which are just what they sound like: 375 ml bottles. Though the name isn’t thrilling, what is exciting is that in this class, featuring four half bottles, we will be able to try some phenomenal wines that would otherwise be out of reach due to the high cost of the standard sized bottles.
We’ll start with an iconic white from an estate in Spain with the oldest Albarino vines in the world, move on to a Pinot Noir from a foundational producer in Oregon, followed by a classic Bordeaux and finish with a Merlot from a premier estate in Napa.
This will be an exciting opportunity to get your hands on some very special wine. With many of us having smaller gatherings this winter, these half bottles might be the perfect size to enjoy with another person over a meal or evening (or to drink solo!). I’m excited to dive into these estates with you during another Zoom class.
We hope you join us!
If you were to buy the full-sized bottles of the wines we are using for class, you would pay over $150!
If you have any questions, please call the store and ask for Chelsey!
