While wine regions like Napa Valley and Sonoma tend to get a lot of love when it comes to California wine, there is a lot of unique and interesting winemaking going on in other parts of the North Coast.
In particular, Mendocino County, located along the coast just north of Sonoma has begun to build a reputation for quality wines made from both familiar and unfamiliar varieties, including a number of Italian varieties originally planted by Italian immigrants.
The region is also known for its dedication to organic and dry-farming, which sets it apart from some of its neighboring regions.
