Join us for a class on South African wine!

South Africa has a rich history in wine, in fact the first vineyard was planted in 1655 and the first ever vintage was bottled in 1659. Wine production in South Africa went through a tumultuous period during the 19th and 20th centuries as the industry received minimal international attention and production far exceeded demand.

It wasn’t until the 1990’s when Apartheid ended and the world export market opened up. Today, production and viticulture is all centered around Cape Town in an area known as the West Cape and is broken down into 60 appellations.

We’ll taste through a few wines to show what makes this viticultural area unique, from its grape varieties to its styles.

This class will be led by Amanda Rodriguez of Libation Project.

If you have any questions, please call the store and ask for Chelsey!
